BIKESCAPE

Terms & Conditions

Payment and Cancellations - A detailed confirmation will be provided shortly after your booking that details the costs and timescales for payments.

At the time of booking a non refundable 30% deposit will be processed. This reserves the motorcycle for the dates of your tour and covers deposits payable for the accommodation. The remainder of the accommodation and itinerary is payable 1 month prior to the tour start date and is automatically processed using the same card details. This then becomes non refundable.

Security Deposit - When collecting the bike a security deposit is required by credit card. The amount of the security deposit varies depending on the motorcycle being used but details will be on your confirmation. The security deposit is refunded in full when the bike is returned to the depot safely and without damage. In the event of damage the Depot/Contractor may deduct the cost of repairs from the insurance excess detailed on the rental pages of the web site.

VERY IMPORTANT - Often many overseas banks automatically prevent large credit card transactions being processed as a way to safe guard against possible fraud. To minimise any hold up when collecting your motorcycle, please inform your credit card provider of your trip and that large amounts may be processed on occasions. If you have any questions about this - please contact us in advance for advice.

Breakdowns and Accommodation - The motorcycles are meticulously maintained but we would be dishonest to say that they never break down! In all cases our priority is to get you on the road again as soon as possible and this is almost always within 24 hours. The solution to your breakdown depends on the problem, your location and factors such as the time of day. Always phone the depot in the event of a breakdown and before undertaking repairs as you must have their approval before repairs take place. The solution may be to provide a replacement bike, to drive to you and fix the bike, to get you to the nearest repair centre or in an extreme scenario provide alternative transport for your trip.

Where we can’t get you on the road in time to reach your next booked accommodation we will help you arrange and pay for a maximum of three nights accommodation of the same standard as the rest of the tour. This is the maximum of our liability regarding accommodation, flights, ferries and side trips in the event of breakdown.

Travel Insurance - It is VERY IMPORTANT that you obtain good quality full travel insurance policy for your trip. You should take advice as to the best policy but it should cover cancellation, medical costs including transportation to hospital (flying doctor costs for example), replacement vehicle cover (if a vehicle is written off, for example, and the driver/rider is injured you may wish to continue in a car/4x4/train and repatriation in the event of serious injury or death. Bikescape accepts no responsibility for a customer’s failure to arrange appropriate cover. Please also note that cover is often void if a helmet is not being worn. We strongly recommend you cover yourself with travel insurance in case of accident and to ensure that if your personal circumstances change and you have to cancel your costs are covered.

Riding Areas - Outback travel on remote gravel roads can be extremely dangerous unless you are well prepared and know how to deal with difficult situations. Every year tourists find themselves in trouble and some even die due to lack of preparation and knowledge. If you intend to ride on remote gravel roads then you MUST inform us of your plans. It may be possible to accommodate your route as some depots specialise in bikes for this type of trip but common outback roads where many depot's bikes are forbidden are the Savannah Way, Plenty Highway, Great Central Road, Gunbarrel Highway, Gibb River Road, Tanamai Track, Oodnadatta Highway, Birdsville Track, Canning Stock Route and any Cape York track. Should your bike break down for ANY reason on gravel roads then you will be responsible for recovery costs. Please request authority before taking bikes on gravel roads. This is for your own protection as unnecessary deaths happen every year.

IMPORTANT - Breaches of any restrictions may invalidate your travel insurance, your rental agreement and your rental insurance.

What is not Included - Excluded from all prices given (unless stated specifically) are personal travel insurance, flights, visas (if applicable), pre-and post-tour accommodation, single room supplements, fuel, oils, additional request items, such as luggage carriers and protective clothing, food, drink and souvenirs. Such costs are specified where relevant and are then bookable with your holiday.

Age and Experience - Minimum age and experience restrictions apply. These vary depending on the bike model and pickup location but for most bikes you need to be 25 or over to ride. Some Harleys require you to be 28 or older. You will need a full bike license, a passport and credit card when you collect the bike. If you are unsure if you meet the conditions please just ask. Bikescape will be held liable for your failure to meet the stated requirements.

Driving License - For all rentals you must have a valid driving license entitling you to use the vehicle you are intending to hire. An international driving license is also required in non-English language countries, but is not sufficient in itself.

Helmets - It is a condition of Bikescape that you wear an approved crash helmet when riding a motorcycle. We are usually able to provide helmets locally, but we strongly encourage you to take your own.

Special Requests - Please notify Bikescape of any special requests you may have at the time of booking. There may be additional charges for any such requests.

Riding - When group touring, it is your responsibility to follow any instructions and information issued by the tour leader. When hiring a vehicle, you must obey the restrictions imposed by Bikescape. As a general rule, you must not leave the country, you must not travel on private roads, and road motorcycles must not be taken off-road, without the prior agreement. Breaches of any restrictions may invalidate your travel insurance, your rental agreement and your rental insurance.

Vehicle Suitability - If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the motorcycle supplied, upon collection, you must report this to the Contractor immediately, and if necessary, to Bikescape. Later complaints will not be accepted.

Accident - In the event of an accident (or theft), always report it to the police immediately, obtain a police report number, and notify Bikescape. We will make every effort to provide repair facilities or a replacement motorcycle, but are not obliged to do so.

Liability - Bikescape, its Agents, Assigns and Contractors accept no responsibility for and shall not be liable in respect of any loss, damage, alterations, delays or changes arising from circumstances outside its or its Contractors' control, such as, but not solely, war or threat of war, riot, industrial dispute, civil strife, fire, adverse weather conditions, terrorist activity, natural and nuclear disaster, technical transport problems, computer malfunction, cancellation of scheduled or charter airlines, closure or congestion of airports or ports.
